Season’s Greetings from the VCX Forum!

As we approach the end of the year, I’d like to share some updates about our ongoing efforts and plans for the following year. While this year has seen fewer external activities compared to last year, VCX Forum has dedicated itself to the development of new version standards for Phone cameras and Webcams, striving to finalize them as soon as possible. Here are some highlights:

1. PhoneCam VCX Standards

Although we aimed to release the updated PhoneCam standards in 2024, we are still working to refine the correlation between subjective evaluations and objective scores. Significant progress has been made, and we are targeting a release early next year. Around that time, a white paper explaining the updates in detail will be available. Stay tuned for further announcements!

2. Webcam VCX Standards

The software for generating official scores is nearing completion, and we are in the process of setting up a Certified Lab to provide verified scores. The benchmark for webcams will be unveiled on the VCX official website around the same time as the next version of the PhoneCam standards.

3. XR Development

The XR pilot team has been promoted to a full-fledged department that is actively driving development forward. Recently, the team has focused on improving chart design.

4. Home Security Camera Standards

The VCX Forum is forming a pilot team in collaboration with Amazon’s Ring team to develop standards for home security cameras. If you are interested in joining the project, please send a request by reply.

Lastly, next year’s VCX Member Face-to-Face Meeting will take place in Tampere, Finland, a hub for numerous companies in the image quality industry. This is an open forum meeting, so everyone is welcome to participate. If you’re interested in attending, please get in touch with me in advance to register.

Thank you for your continued support of the VCX Forum. Our VCX Forum members and I wish you a joyful holiday season and look forward to collaborating with you in the coming year!

Warm regards,

Benjamin Pak Coordinator
